# Prevent users from entering duplicate values with Prohibit Duplicate Values Fields' Settings

# Prevent Duplicate Values with Field Settings

An easy way to prevent users from entering the same values in a Kintone App is to use the **Prohibit duplicate values** setting.

The following fields support this native feature:

## How to use the Prohibit duplicate values setting?

Prevent users from entering the same input by enabling the **Prohibit duplicate values** setting per field.

Steps:

1. Go into the **Field Settings** for the field you want to prevent duplicate values by clicking on the ⚙ icon.

2. Check the **Prohibit duplicate values** checkbox. (Default: unchecked)

3. Save the **Field Settings**.

4. Update the Kintone App.

## ⚠ Limitations

**Text Field** : If the prohibition of duplicate values is set for the field, the number of characters allowed for the field will be limited to 64 in half-width or full-width.

**Link Field** : If the prohibition of duplicate values is set for the field, the number of characters allowed for the field will be limited to 64 in half-width or full-width.
